Runners and Parents,
It is hard to believe that this will be the last set of weekly reminders and updates for the 2023 cross country season. It seems like we just started yesterday. Congratulations to all of the runners who participated this year. We hope all of you continue to run cross country next year and encourage you to invite your friends to join as well. We also hope you have developed a realization for the importance of physical fitness in your lives and also had some fun along the way. Cross Country is not easy and you should be commended for your willingness to stick with it and work hard.
We have two meets to summarize from this past week. On Monday we participated in the NLL Championship at Whiteford Valley Golf Club. Our boys finished in 10TH place and our girls finished in 6TH place. The top boy placers were Koe Caldwell and Cole Hermiller who finished 22ND and 23RD. Our top girl placers were Gabby Brankamp and Eden Kempf who finished 7TH and 21ST. On Saturday we concluded our season at the Marion Harding Cross Country Invitational. Our boys placed 11TH out of 15 teams and our girls placed 7TH out of 16 teams. Once again, Koe Caldwell was our top boy finishing 41ST out of 141 runners. Steven Treece ran his fastest time of the year in this race. Gabby Brankamp was our top girl placer finishing 12TH out of 142 runners. Eden Kempf, Daphne Paige and Adalyn Andrews all ran their fastest times of the year and finished 34TH, 35TH and 54TH. Great job to all of our runners. Complete results can be seen on Baumspage for the NLL meet and Milesplit Ohio for the meet in Marion.
Here is the final set of reminders and updates for the season.
1) All uniforms must be washed, placed in a bag with your name on it and turned in to Coach Nanamaker, Coach Patey or the school secretaries NO LATER than Tuesday, October 17. You must turn in a uniform by that date to receive your certificate and attend our end of the year award ceremony and celebration.
2) Our celebration will take place on Tuesday, October 17 at 3:00 pm in the FHS cafeteria. Runners will ride the buses from Donnell and Glenwood to the high school like they did on normal practice days. Coaches will provide pizza for the celebration and boy runners will provide a salty snack and girl runners a sweet snack. For planning purposes, there are 23 runners to consider. Everyone will bring their own drink.
3) After eating and handing out certificates, we will move to Mrs Gleason´s room at Millstream to watch our season video highlights. Anyone who would like a copy of the highlights will need to provide a flash drive so we can make you a copy. We should be finished by 4:30 and runners can be picked up back at the normal pick-up spot.
4) Any parents who would like to volunteer to help with clean-up in the cafeteria after we eat are greatly appreciated. Let us know if you can lend a hand.
5) It has been a pleasure to work with all of the runners and parents this year. We appreciate your support and hope you continue running this winter, spring and summer in preperation for next season. Encourage your 7TH and 6TH grade friends to give cross country a try next fall.
